At Tandou, we run a number of operations across our 79,000 hectares (ha) of land, offering investors a unique and diversified investment opportunity. This range of operations also ensures we have extensive experience in numerous enterprises, the skills of which are available to customers via our various agribusiness services.
Despite our location in semi-arid Australia, we enjoy secure water tenure from the nearby Darling River and Menindee Lakes Scheme. This water, plus the investment in further water entitlements, together with our unique topography and soils, including 17,000 hectares of irrigation development in a dry lake bed, enable rare annual cropping opportunities as well as profitable livestock enterprises.
Tandou has a broad portfolio of water entitlements, significant experience in water markets and an educated and realistic understanding of current and future prospects for the water sector.
This experience makes Tandou the ideal vehicle through which to invest in water. Our investment strategy offers secure long term returns through capitalising on shorter term market opporunities.
At Tandou Farm, we have developed approximately 13,380 ha of land for furrow irrigation with a further 780 ha developed for sub-surface drip irrigation. Our cropping program is based on a rotation of cotton and cereals to ensure production sustainability. We are also constantly conducting trials involving new crops, different varieties and agronomic techniques to determine whether there may be a way to further maximise investment returns.
Over 55,000 ha of Tandou’s land are devoted to pastoral livestock production and half of this is in organic conversion. Our flock of Dorper sheep places investors in a prime position to take advantage of the increasing demand and prices for sheep meat.
