The board of Tandou Limited (ASX:TAN) advises that Mr Dick Warburton has elected to retire as Director and Chairman of the company effective 31 December 2010.
In advising the board of his intention, Mr Warburton noted that he had been Chairman of Tandou for seven years and that he was reassessing his future board commitments.
On Mr Warburton's appointment as Chairman the company was a cotton, grain production and pastoral enterprise with investments in vineyards and wine, carrying
high levels of debt. It was impacted by drought and a severe downturn in its wine and vineyard business.
Tandou successfully sold its winery and a vineyard and cleared its unsustainable debt. It is now looking to a profitable future as a water investment company complemented by a large scale sustainable cotton and cereal property.
The company has retained key personnel who have deep expertise in the water industry and in the operation of a large scale irrigated cotton and cereal business. The company is well led by CEO Guy Kingwill who is supported by a board with the necessary agricultural and financial skills to take Tandou to the next stage of profitable growth.
The board is very grateful to Mr Warburton for his service to Tandou. He has been an excellent Chairman.
The board elected Mr Rob Woolley as the incoming Chairman. Mr Woolley has been a board member since February 2007. Mr Woolley is currently on the board of Southern Water in Tasmania and the Chairman of Tasmanian Pure Foods Ltd and the Tasmanian Forest Industry Council.
