Introduction
Heavy rainfall in northern NSW and southern Queensland during late-November 2011 has triggered large flows in the Gwydir, Border Rivers and Namoi catchments.
These flows are slowly entering the Barwon-Darling river system. The flow peak is likely to reach the Menindee Lakes in late January or early February 2012.
The Menindee Lakes are already full as a result of floods last summer and there is limited capacity to store additional inflows. To mitigate potential flooding, increased releases from the Menidee Lakes commenced on 14 December 2011...read more...
